Growing up i remember dancing a lot with my family. We always dance. All someone has to do is get on youtube or itunes and blast a song and it starts. One of the biggest memory's i remember of my family dancing is in Portland, Oregon. I was about 6, K was 8, and S was 3. And dad had gotten home from work and put on one of his favorite bands growing up. Styx. Al thought i had no idea who they where i loved how they where just such an essence of my dad. One thing i loved was that both me and K have a sound that dad "gave" us, like K's is Lady because dad would put K's name in the chorus and take out Lady. Mine was Lorelei. And its a little odd that this was the sound i got but i LOVED that it was my song. The up beat tempo and the reference to a butterfly were all very me when i was 6. We dance and sang this songs with dad, and i totally remember all the moves that we had to go with the dance.
For some reason this song and Butterfly fly away came into my head today and when ever i here it just makes me think of my dad. There is a link to the song on youtube if you wan to here them. :)
My dad holds an image of dreaming to me. And i hope to always hold that image in my head along with dancing around the living room with him and K when we were younger.
Here is the awesome song
