My favorite artist i think of all time is Cluade Monet. His entire career focused on light. It is breath taking. What a wonderful understanding of how light changes everything. And i could go into a "Jesus Juke" but i really don't feel up for it tonight. So instead here are some of my favorite paintings from Monet.

There is something about his painting that brings me so much Joy. (So here is my Christian reference) I wounder if that is how God feel about us, only its his work not anyone else. I feel closer to God for some reason when i paint, i am also much more protective of my art than really anything else. I don't like to show people my deep. deep meaningful work. I don't know why this is but it was what i wanted to say today.
I know leave you with this quote from my other favorite artist and a question......
I dream of painting and then I paint my dream.
Vincent Van Gogh
If this statement is true for u all then what do you paint?
Allison,
ReplyDeleteThis post is so lovely.
"The silk of the paint toughing the canvas for the first time is the first drops of a spring rain hitting my dry soul."
This sentence is very powerful, a revealing about what stirs you.
I wonder why it is that you don't want to show people your deep, deep meaningful work. I wonder if it just feels so intimate that its scary.
I look forward to seeing that quote on your wall at home soon.
:-D amen to painting!
ReplyDeletei havent felt like ive had many paintable dreams lately, and i havent been painting much. but i really want to.
id never seen some of those monets! i was surprised, i actually liked some of them- i dont tend to like his stuff. i liked being surprised:)
My life has shrunk lately with my internship, with only time for work and sleep on most days. Creativity has been limited to formatting Excel spreadsheets.
ReplyDeleteI, too, like Heather, was surprised at some of the Monets I hadn't seen before. He understands simplicity and excels at finding its beauty. Thanks for stirring the embers of creativity. Hopefully soon I'll get to express the appreciation I've found in my smaller, simpler world.
Best. Post. Ever. Al. For REAL.
ReplyDeleteI love it. It makes me want to get all my paint supplies out again.
You, my dear, and an extremely gifted painter. As I visited with your folks back in February, I was amazed by how much of your beauty resides in their home through the artwork on the walls that you painted...the wine bottle with the broken pieces of glass laced through the middle...the canvas of New Year's dreams above your bed.
He has made you exquisitely creative. Don't ever stop painting or creating, Al. (and keep writing too!)
Love and miss you. --Lib.
